Christian Life Coach and Artist | create@PattyCollins.net
As an artist, I live and work in Maine with my husband. I am a mother of two, and a grandmother or "Rira" of four, a Certified Christian Life Coach, and a Certified Herbalist Apprentice, but I am a maker and creator at heart!
Daily life demands the overuse of our left brain, so I continue searching for work that will keep my creative right brain alive, which is where my happiness comes from! In my search for happy, I have found numerous artistic outlets that you will see in my Custom galleries, including felting, stained glass, and multimedia painting.
Alcohol ink and watercolor are my newest adventure! Check out the Gallery!
New in my gallery, you will find my Herbal Collection Watercolors. These were part of my final project in my Herbalist Certification course. Each herb note card comes with the back printed, with a bit of information on the herb, a fun fact about its essence, and a scripture, that relates to the whole healing property of the herb, body, soul, and spirit.
In 2020 I learned a new technique using alcohol inks. The inks are vibrant and fun to work with. A combination of alcohol and ink is moved around the page, using an airbrush, paintbrushes, burnishing tools, or any tool that you want to try. The alcohol evaporates leaving the color pigment on the paper. More ink can be layered over the dried pigment allowing for depth and amazing contrasts.
My watercolors are often done on dreary winter evenings, with my notebook and watercolors in my lap, practicing different techniques, using beautiful color pallets. I like outlining the paintings to bring more depth and definition to the work. I find outlining to be a cathartic and relaxing process, moving with the flow of the dried highlights in each painting.
